Boobs, G.D., Banville, are you guys out there? Anyone still alive from the Odanance shops? I was shocked to find out that NAS Adak, Alaska, and NAS Barbers Point, Hawaii have both been decommissioned. I wonder If Bar V.O. is still there in NAF Naha, Okinawa, Japan? I retired from teaching and I am now working in the Seattle area teaching teachers. Drop me a line. I am full of "What ever happened" questions and the "Battle of the Airmans Club stories...I was in crew 10 of VP-6 October 1969 to December of 1970. I am looking for any of my squadron that made the deployment to NAF Naha, Okinawa, Japan. I was an AO-3 whose birthday party and getting out party turned into the "battle of the Airmans Club." The Capt. let me go home and I think that Curt 'Gurdy' Armstrong was the only one that got busted. VP-6 was of course banned from the air force facilities at NAF Naha, Okinawa, Japan. LUCHINI, Louis J. Jr. luchini-group@mindspring.com "...Just spent a hour remembering the good times at VW-1. I served VW-1 from around mid 1968 to Feb. 1971. I was crew electrician and usually flew with crew 9 or crew 11. I remember the time I needed a couple of hours to complete my flight time one month so I went up on a flight around the island. I can't remember the pilots name, I think he was a Lt., and I remember he was a short timer. Well he found a russian trawler off the coast so he decided to make a "bombing run" on it. I was sitting at the table in the galley when all of a sudden I was pined to my seat as he started his desent. As we banked to the port side I looked out the window and the guys on the ship were shaking their fists and throwing things at us. I swear we came about thirty feet off their deck. Well the flight engineer was unhappy to say the least, and that was the "short time" pilots last flight. I still have some of my orders for some of the det. flights. See if your name is here On May 28th 1970 Crew 11 was sent to NS Sangley Point, Philippines/Danang on board were 20 enlisted men. I don't have the officers names - sorry. ADRC Harold Eastmen, ADR1 Richard Weaver, ADR1 Dick Morehead, ATN3 Merlyn Tripp, ATN3 Thomas Peterson, ATNAN Douglas Delaney, ATR3 Steven Vroman, ATR3 Timothy Theis, ATRAN Mikeal Humphreys, ATR3 Jack Gray, ATRAN Mark Franklin, AE2 Louis Luchini, AG2 Michael Nelson, AG3 Bobby Barrett, ATN3 David Stansbury, ADRAN Berl Welch, ATR3 William Michelsen, ADR1 Thomas Garrett, ADR3 Julius CAllis and AMH3 Thomas Barrett. LUDIENSKI, Alfred rentech@comcast.net "...1957 - 1958 Tour in Malta as Special Services Officer, FASRON-201, though trained in Ordnance. But that position was filled upon my arrival. Had two great Chiefs - but cannot remember their names. Then led the pre-commissioning detail at NAS Sigonella, Sicily, with every non-military job you can think of. Started the School, Movie House, BOQ, Dependent Housing, etc. with an office located in the chapel. Could not get the Commanding Officer (Frasier?) to start an enlisted men's club or athletic field - he had other priorities. Remember Yost (Communications), Malagodi (Dentist}, McEvoy and a great Commissary Officer who died very young (name?) Anyone else have any memories?..." [22AUG2002]
