"...I am the designer of the VP-24 "Battle of Bermuda" patch. I designed it on a 10-hour patrol while Navcomm on CAC-2, with CDR Mike Bruner (XO) as PPC...It has a God's eye view of a P-3 with 12 submarines around the perimeter. "Around the clock ASW" was the catch phrase. During our deployment to NAS Bermuda in 1985, the former USSR sent their submarine fleet into the open Atlantic and Bermuda was quite the hot spot. 12 subs was not a total for a 6-month deployment, that was just about our daily selection of targets from which to chose! ..."
