AIRCRAFT: VP-3S P2D BUNO: 8648 "...Flying over the Panama Canal. VP-3S was based at NAS Coco Solo, Panama, Canal Zone from 1930 through 1937. Prior to 1930 the squadron number had been used by the Marine Corps for VP-3M at Guam. VP-3S started with six PM-1's in 1930, changed to five T3M-2's in 1931, and finally standardized on P2D-1's in 1932--keeping them through 1936 until they were replaced by PBY-1's in 1937.
