DEILKE, William bdeilke@hotmail.com "...I served with VT-25 in February 1962 in the Line Division as a Plane Captain. The Line PO was ADJ1 Simone and the Division Officer was CAPT Summe. Mostly the CAPT was in hack for stunt flying or straffing the extra cattle he found to be wondering on the King Ranch. He and I did several cats and traps together on the USS Wasp or USS Lexington during CarQuals. Airobatics and gunnery hops with the students were also exciting. My G suit inflated during a Cuban 8 and tripped the speedbrake switch with a student belly to belly. That was exciting. In 1966 I was the Senior Plane Captain on the base. Although at that time I worked for ADCM Rogers in Maintenance Control. We lost about 1 pilot a month, base wide, and my biggest regret was the loss of Major Winn at Alice Orange. If you remember me you know that against all odds I am still alive at the age of 59 and in the year 2003. I think it was due to finishing my 20 in the reserve with SBU 11 and the Seal Teams of Special Warefare. I always went for the safe jobs. If you rememberr me or want to talk about 1962 to 1966 give me an E-mail..." [27NOV2003]
