While on patrol out of Lajes one afternoon, we were flying with #1 and #4 loitered, when #3 took a dump. As we all know a P-3 has a glide pattern of a rock. We dropped from about 10,000 ft to less than 2,000 ft in a hurry. The pucker factor was quite high. Our flight crew lead by Lt. Langer managed to get #4 running again and keep us flying.
