ReunionsREUNIONs: "...Proposed VP-50 Reunion will be March 20 - 22, 2026 in Pensacola, Florida - VP-50 Reunion Group..." Forwarded by CLAY, AT1(NAC) Tom "Staypuff tomclayjr59@gmail.com [05JUL2025]

Hey
Shipmates. The reunion in 2016 was more than many of us ever imagined it could be. Who thought it would turn into hundreds of people showing up, airplanes flying in from VP squadrons and having a 2 star RDML speaking? I was blown away by the commitment from so many of you to show up..." Contributed by [05JUL2025]

So many have asked about another reunion and while we have had a few smaller gatherings along the way, we haven't had a bigger more planned event in over 9 years. We now have a proposed reunion date of March 20 - 22, 2026. The location would be Pensacola, Florida.

This will not be as structured as what we did in 2016. I don't think we could get the same commitment from Navy resources and traveling to CA is a big expense for most. What we can do is get together in Pensacola, have a ceremony at the Naval Museum outside where the pavers for our lost shipments are (thank you Brian Cyphert), stay at the same hotel (if you want to) and make our own plans for dinners and drinks with whoever you want. We can have a group t shirt and small items as we had in 2016 but this would be a smaller more intimate get together but still a chance for us to get together.

Last time we got together in Pensacola, we stayed at the Paradise Inn (thanks to Brian Maxwell for scoping it out for us). It's a bay side motel with nice rooms, a bar, food service and weekend entertainment on the beach. This is the motel site. Paradise Inn.

Currently you cannot book this far out. As of right now, they're only taking bookings through the first week of January. I will call them to see if we can get a group rate and possibly book before it opens to the general public but we have to remember that late March is Spring Break when they probably do a lot of business. There might not be good deal to be had. We might only get the regular rack rate.

I'd love to get feedback on all of this and any offers of help for setting up a ceremony at the museum, etc. Or if there's a big protest against Pensacola...let me know. Having stayed at this motel and been to the museum pavers, this is an excellent option for us. Thanks to those that have already offered to help.
